A Safe, Caring Place for Children

HopeSeed | Cuenca, Ecuador

“Hugs! More hugs!” exclaims 3-year-old Josue as he arrives at HopeSeed school in Cuenca, Ecuador. “Little Josue runs and hugs the teachers, his classmates and fellow students every morning,” shares school founder and teacher, Heidi Mogrovejo.

“He was only 2 when his mom died. We want the school to support him emotionally and to be like a family. A safe place and a loving environment, where all children feel and know how precious they are.” Heidi continues. “We saw the need for a school with high academic standards in Spanish and English, that teaches a biblical worldview and where children are really valued.”

HopeSeed was started in October of 2020. It is located next to Seminario Biblico Evangelico, a seminary started 25 years ago by Heidi’s parents, Jorge and Lynn Mogrovejo. HopeSeed has a pre-school program, as well as grades 1-5. They offer music twice a week where students can choose to learn the guitar, the piano, or the violin. They also have a Chaplain and chapel services once a week.

The school has 2 classrooms: one for the pre-school and the other for grades 1-5. With class size capped at 15 students they don’t have much room to grow. A team from Ohio, in the United States, is planning to come down to help construct 2 more classrooms and other facilities in 2023, if funding is available.

Heidi and her husband Napo note that, “The school has been named HopeSeed, because it will be the seed of hope for future generations and future leaders of our city, country, and the world."

Pray for HopeSeed

  • There is an urgent need for an English teacher for the pre-school. Check out the Opportunity Board for more information.
  • For the funds to come in, so plans can go ahead with the building expansion projects: 2 classrooms & 2 bathrooms. Click here to donate.
  • Pray for Heidi and her helper as they are writing their own curriculum to meet and exceed government standards. They are currently developing a geography workbook, after having completed materials for math and writing.
