Beauty from ashes

Grief is a confusing and overwhelming mix of emotions for anyone to face, but especially for a toddler. Read this touching story, shared by one of the founders of HopeSeed School in Ecuador, about how continually showing little Carlos* God’s love in a tangible way brought beauty from ashes.

Carlos is a very special 4-year-old boy. He has brought smiles to many faces. At a very young age, due to Covid, his mother left him to go be with Jesus. Since then, his behavior changed drastically.

Missing his mother’s tender loving care created an inner anger which needed much work. Everyone at HopeSeed School worked hard with him, so that at school he would feel at home. We did everything possible to show him love. The best thing we found that worked was a hug. Whenever he would get upset, all we needed to do was sit down and hold him. That hug filled him and helped him feel safe. We became part of his family.

Now, every time we see him, even outside of school, he runs up with his arms wide open, waiting for his hug.

Carlos’ life has been transformed by Christ’s love, and he has found a home away from home at his school. If you would like to bring hope, restoration, and healing to more children like Carlos, you can sponsor a child today!
