Leaves and Roots Education Center/Hojas y Raíces Centro Educativo

Leaves and Roots Education Center (Hojas y Raíces Centro Educativo) was founded in 2019 in La Misión, Mexico. Each year, the school serves 60 students from the surrounding rural farming community. Due to economic circumstances and geographical obstacles, it is difficult for the children of migrant farmworkers to attend public schools in town. It is common for children growing up on these rural ranches to either work in the fields with their parents at a very young age or simply stay home taking care of their younger siblings.

Leaves and Roots provides the opportunity for children from ranches surrounding La Misión to attend school by providing transportation, family support, adapting learning plans, and small class sizes. The school is free for the students because of financial support from generous donors.

The school offers classes from pre-K to middle school, as well as ongoing support for students after graduation. The school is led and staffed by local Christian teachers who provide a holistic, individualized education. In addition to core academic subjects, the teachers incorporate art, Bible, and English.

The school is giving these students the opportunity for a transformational education which opens up greater hope and possibilities for their future. This is a small school filled with great love!
