Director of Development

The DD will lead marketing efforts to recruit and retain missionary staff. The DD will also strengthen the FIA brand and improve the quality of school publications and public communications.

Essential Duties

• Prepare a strategic plan and annual budget for Development in consultation with the Executive Team.
• Responsible for helping promote the vision and mission of FIA by making opportunities known and helping to identify future potential applicants for service, potential donors, and prayer supporters.
• Travel to conferences, schools, churches, homes, and other appropriate venues to find quality candidates for service or arrange representation when unable to travel.
• Develop relationships with universities, churches, and Christian K-12 schools that are potential sources of FIA staff members.
• Be in regular contact with inquiries and applicants.
• Provide support and encouragement for applicants throughout their application and support-raising process.
• Serve as a liaison between the applicant and the Head of School in the recruitment process.
• Advise returning teachers regarding recruiting needs and resources.
• Develop databases for recruitment, donors, and ministry partners.
• Work closely with cooperating missions and supporting churches.
• Submit an annual written report to the Head of School

Qualifications

• Proven effective overseas experience
• An understanding of missionary schooling 
• Recruitment experience is preferred
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in relevant field

• A mature Christian of evangelical doctrine, sound judgment, and professional skill
• Philosophy of life that aligns with the policies, objectives, and doctrinal position of FIA
• Active participant in a local church
• The ability to work with minimum supervision
• The ability to work well with others, exhibit good judgment in decision-making, and be familiar with and comfortable in a “missions” and educational environment
• The capacity to be a perceptive and empathetic listener; proven ability to be a team player
• Displays both warmth and professionalism and a quality of spirit that is reflected in a growing relationship with God and a God-honoring relationship with others
